Congratulations to Outrage player Eric Alexander

The current Kalamazoo Outrage star and former Portage Central Mustang Eric Alexander, a senior at Indiana University, was the 44th overall selection in the MLS super draft on Thursday in Philadelphia. With the 12th pick of the third round FC Dallas selected the senior midfielder. Eric has spent the past two summers anchoring the midfield for the Kalamazoo Outrage playing in 17 games with 4 goals and 1 assist. “This is a big day for the Outrage and for Eric. Eric is a quality player and a great kid who will make Kalamazoo proud” said Outrage coach Mark Spooner. In an article on the IU soccer website, Eric stated “I am really excited to be heading to Dallas. I am happy I was selected and will now focus on preparing myself to go down there with a positive attitude and compete for a spot. Selected as a team captain in 2009, Alexander started all 23 matches and was a second-team All-Big Ten selection for the second consecutive season. Alexander scored his lone goal of the season against Wake Forest, while also contributing assists in matches against Kentucky, Penn State, Wisconsin and Louisville. Alexander appeared in 91 matches and made 80 starts, finishing with 12 goals and 13 assists for his career. He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2007 and a unanimous pick for the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2006. Alexander was also a standout in the classroom as a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
